About the Book

Eight years ago, Kyle Stafford had everything a seventeen-year-old kid could want — the latest gadgets, the best clothes, the newest sports car, and a palatial home. A single lapse in judgment changed everything. Now he’s lucky if he eats once a day. Taking refuge in a small cave to avoid a torrential downpour, he’s hoping for a safe place to sleep. What he gets is far from restful… and definitely not safe.

Roen of House Vakeor takes his job as a guard very seriously. When his patrol leads him to one of the hidden portals to the humans’ side, he stumbles — quite literally — into a young human male sleeping right at his realm’s front door. Whether the human knows where the entrance is or not, Roen’s duty requires him to take the young man prisoner — back to House Vakeor.

Review

This is my first time reading a book by Mychael Black, and I really enjoyed it! I love books about the fae and I can’t wait for the rest of the series to become available. Firewalk with Me is book one in the Fae-ry Tales series. Roen’s character drew me in from the beginning, and I wanted to know everything about him. My heart hurt for Kyle and what he’d been through with his family, and I was so glad that Roen gave him a chance. The chemistry between the two was intense, and I hope we see more of them in future books in the series. The story ended with not quite all of the loose ends tied up, but it was apparent that it was done that way on purpose, leaving the reader hungry for the next book.

I admit, the dog on the cover caught my attention first — who could resist that sweet face? — but I absolutely fell in love with the characters in this story. Evan has been through so much, and has closed himself off emotionally, expecting the worst of anyone who wants to get closer. And Casey was so full of hope, and eager to give Evan anything he wanted or needed. In some ways, Casey was like an overexcited puppy, experiencing love for the first time, eager to experiment. I thought their romance was sweet, and that they were perfectly matched. The sex scenes were hot and well written, and you could feel the chemistry between the characters. If you’re in the mood for a quick, hot, gay romance, this book is for you!

Review

It’s been a while since I read a pirate romance, and I loved the twist at the end about who Aristad truly was. It’s no secret from the beginning that he’s something different, but I wasn’t quite certain what. I was pleasantly surprised. Kraken was both powerful and endearing, and I fell in love with him quite easily. I was so glad they had a happily-ever-after. The story was well-written, and the descriptive writing was beautiful. Overall, I really enjoyed the story. The author pulled me in from the first page, and I couldn’t stop reading until the very end. Excellent job, Ms. Ishii!

Review: Lifting the Veil by Kate Allenton

Lifting the VeilLifting the Veil by Kate Allenton

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely adored this story! The characters were great, the story line riveting. I especially loved the detail of the opening scene. I could clearly see it in my mind as I was reading.

Sophie is a spunky heroine who refuses to let the men in her life run roughshod over her. Once she gets an idea in her head, she goes with her gut instinct and follows through, no matter the consequences. While the hero wants to protect her and shelter her, she isn’t afraid to stand on her own two feet and let him know when he’s being overbearing.

I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series!

A review of Cade by Liliana Hart

Cade (The MacKenzie Family #6)Cade by Liliana Hart

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved this book. Action, suspense, a tortured hero, and some of the hottest scenes I’ve read in a while.

While Cade’s past holds him back from giving all of himself, or so he thinks, he can’t help but fall under Bayleigh’s spell. She’s sassy and sexy as hell, so what isn’t to like? But as sparks begin to fly between the two, Cade ends up giving more of himself than he had planned.

I loved Cade’s character. While he was a tortured soul, you could tell he still had a great capacity for love. He was an alpha male in every sense of the word, but not over the top. Bayleigh was the perfect heroine for him. Her sassy remarks had me laughing while her determination to win Cade’s love had me cheering her on.

If you love a fast paced, action packed romance, then you should definitely give this book a try!

Crash – a review

Crash (The Outlaw, #2)Crash by Nicole James

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Once I started reading, I didn’t want to put it down! I liked how the story focused more on Crash and Shannon and less on the MC. Yes, the MC was part of it and was woven throughout the tale, but it wasn’t the main focus. I’ve picked up a few MC books over the past week, and all of them had a heavy focus on the MC itself and not as much on the growing relationship between the main characters.

Ms. James did a wonderful job with this story. I’ve never read her books before, but I will definitely look for others by her.

About the Book:

When outlaw biker Tyler “Crash” Shaw volunteers his services to his club brother, Cole Austin, VP of the Evil Dead MC, he suddenly finds himself a rich girl’s bodyguard and babysitter. Well, it’s a bitch of a job, but maybe he can have a little fun with it. He thinks he’ll get a kick out of teaching the pampered stuck-up girl a lesson or two on how the other half lives. She can cook and clean for him in exchange for his help. No free ride for her. He intends to teach her that money can’t buy her way through life.

The world saw a classy pulled-together wealthy lady. All he saw was a spoiled little rich girl. A troublemaker, that’s all she was to him. Until she revealed the shattered girl inside that tried so hard to hide her weaknesses and fears with a façade of arrogance, attitude, and sass.

He’d tear down those walls she tried so hard to build, if only she’d let him.

Could the love of a man so wrong for her be the only one to save her?

And in his darkest hour, would her love be enough to save him?

From the MC’s California charter in San Jose, to the casinos and brothels of Reno, to brother charters in the Deep South, this story will take you on a ride of highs and lows that lead ultimately to redemption.

About the Book:

If you think you’ve lost everything. Think again.

Kitty lost her father, her home and her clan. Clinging to what’s left of her pride, she’s forced into the neutral zone, the supposed safe haven for half-breeds and outcasts. An attack forces her to the wrong side of the treaty line and into an even more dangerous situation. Determined to greet death with the last of her dignity, she is suddenly rescued by a tall, gorgeous…wolf???

As the next alpha leader of his pack, Rafe Comyn has more than enough to handle with pack politics and precarious treaties. The last thing he needs is a pissed off feline landing in his lap, especially when her scent triggers his overwhelming drive to mate. While the daughter of a former rival is quite a conquest, she’s both forbidden and dangerous.

But as the heat of desire threatens to consume them, their differences escalate and Rafe must keep his own pack from killing the one woman he can’t live without.
